pre-season 4 Supports

As supports just get more than the warding-bitch of the team, which champs do you think will be new viable options for support

AP Supports will be most effective.
Riot buffed the actual supports, but the damaging supports will always excel.

Thus Annie, Fiddle, Thresh (still good dmg), Leona (great CC/tank),....

i also see janna just getting a huge buff

passive now gives 5% instead of 3% movement for her adc (and herself obviously)
her shield gives the old AD and 33% of her AP as AD
her slow gives the old slow and 12% of her AP (not that huge, but you max it last, and it only slows 24% in rank 1, so it's not that huge
howling gale deals like the same damage fully charged (a bit less though)

so building ap on her should be awesome because everything of her scales with ap now ... even the passive of her slow

so if you build like 100ap, her shield gives 83 AD on rank 5, that's huge

i can just imagine the troll janna builds for lategame, building something like 600AP

-her shield gives someone 248AD

-her movement speed is 45% higher (passive and w passive) + the 3% of the mastery (if it's still there) giving her 562,4 movement speed with normal tier 2 boots, for like nothing

-her w slows your movement speed by 88% for 3 seconds (700AP slows exactly 100%, so you can't move at all for 3 seconds)

- Her ulti heals the entire team for 1440hp over 4 seconds

tl;dr (ap troll janna): 562 movement speed for like nothing
                           248 AD shield
                           1440hp aoe heal
                           88% slow (3 seconds)

... imagine this + tristana/vayne + something like nasus in the lategame
they wanna reduce snowball potential, so lategame should become at least a bit more important

don't think you can actually have sucess with building that much ap on a support, but it could work for trolling in some normals

Let's look at a few of the work-in-progress items that I'm talking about:
Ancient Coin grants gold every 10 seconds. When a nearby ally kills a minion, you earn gold.
Relic Shield executes minions below 200 health and grants gold to both you and the nearest ally when you last hit. Your ally gains a small gold bonus on top of this. This effect can happen up to twice a minute.
Spellthief's Edge makes it so that your spells and basic attacks against enemy champions grant you gold. It cannot affect the same target more than once every 10 seconds and last hitting an enemy disables this effect for 10 seconds.

Oh god dat janna. Ye. People will just go full AP now and not bother with actual support items such as Shurelya's, Sightstone, twin shadows, mikeal crucible, ...

why kage shoul still be good on her

Ye but that's about it. + Kage is rather expensive for early game since you gotta buy wards and stuff.
+ Kage doesn't really build in anything too AP heavy items.

but goes in gold regeneration and can be buildin different things from dmg over slow over aoe slow

janna get's more slow, more movement, more heal, more AD for her adc on her shield ... so even if you would build her full AP, she would still support (so if you don't buy any support items, she will still support because of the AP scaling)
she can only place 3 wards by herself and the adc can place wards for free with trinkets , so vision shouldn't be that expensive ... still don't think this is viable, but I'll test it
inb4 AP ratio for the AD on her shield nerfed

the point we supporter wanna point out the adc will still last hit

so u still need a gold inc to get any items

yes u get more gold for assists but that wont be enough u will still need a gold inc they evne build in new items to give u more gold over time thats why i am doubting ur statement

ok ap janna mid then ... or janna jungle
... she got a shield vs neutral monsters, fucking movementspeed for roaming and shit ... somebody has to use the new ap-ratios
